David Spencer

David Spencer has been living and working in Asia since 1991, across Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Korea, China/Hong Kong, Mongolia, and Vietnam. David joined General Electric in 1997 as a business development leader and subsequently founded and led GE’s Financial Restructuring Group in Asia. He has also served as head of Mergers & Acquisitions and Business Development for GE Company in Japan/Korea, and he most recently served as Managing Director, Commercial & Strategic Marketing Leader of GE Commercial Finance – Asia, GE’s largest and most profitable business at the time, with responsibility for $2.2 billion of incremental organic growth initiatives across 11 markets in Asia.Prior to joining GE Capital, Mr Spencer spent two years as a management consultant at Booz • Allen & Hamilton based in Singapore. He also spent over five years with Morgan Stanley’s Investment Banking Division in Tokyo, Bangkok and New York. David holds a Bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, an MA in International Studies (Japan/Asia) from the Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania, an MBA from The Wharton School of Business, and he has graduated several of GE’s most senior Executive Education training courses.
