Olympic Park

Originally constructed to host the 2002 Winter Olympics, the Utah Olympic Park operates throughout the year and offers a fantastic selection of wintery and summery activities. For those with an adventurous spirit, this is the place for you. The park offers bobsledding, ski jumping, obstacle courses, rock climbing, zip-lining and much more. For the adrenaline junkies amongst us, the opportunity to ride in an Olympic bobsled is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that thrills you to your core. The $67 experience sees you hurtle down the mountain at more than 70 miles per hour with an instructor, feeling the full force of gravity weighing on your shoulders through the corners. A great place to take young ones above the age of 11 and to reclaim some youth for yourself, the Olympic Park is a fun day out.

Red Butte Garden

The Red Butte Garden is the largest botanical gardens in the Intermountain MidWest region. Its 21 acre developed garden, 5 miles of walking trails and range of activities and events makes this a worthy experience for newcomers to Salt Lake City. Its beautiful flora blossoms with majestic colours in the spring, perfuming the air with the flowers’ sweet aromas, creating a slice of paradise in SLC. The Red Butte Garden is supported by the communities of SLC who dedicate time, money and effort into making it a welcoming place for all visitors, local or international. Through the community spirit, locals lead educational, fitness and music classes throughout the year, making it a hub for social activity within the city’s communities.

Great Salt Lake Marina

This vast landlocked body of water is the remaining vestiges of Lake Bonneville, which once dominated the area. The Great Salt Lake is the largest saltwater lake in the Western hemisphere and only slightly less salty than the Dead Sea with similar health benefits. It's known for being a tourism hotspot in the summer for its range of watersports, stunning scenery, moorings and summer camps. Head down to the marina to rent a kayak, paddleboard, pedalo or sailing boat from Gonzo Boat Rentals, all of which are popular pastimes amongst the locals of Salt Lake City. For a slice of the area’s history, the Saltair building from 1893 was a renowned hotel through its heyday in the 1920s, but now stands as a concert venue with views of the magical lake.

Bonneville Salt Flats

The Bonneville Salt Flats offer visitors the chance to experience a unique landscape. It's strange, almost alien geology saw it handed a protective notice from the government for Critical Environmental Concern in the mid 1980s to ensure the preservation of this incredible landscape. The area’s hard, white salt crust stretches to a dot on the horizon making it a much-loved location for expansive movie filming and vehicle commercials. This beautiful geology is one of only a handful of salt flats throughout the world and the only one in the US, making it a hotbed for tourism yearly.
